175 Years of Steamboating on Lake Lucerne
A celebration of Swiss steam and our remarkable heritage!
On 24 September 1837 the very first paddle steamer was launched on Lake Lucerne, heralding the beginning of a new era in Central Switzerland. We are proud to uphold this longstanding tradition in the 21st century and would like to mark the occasion with a proper anniversary celebration.
To this end we invite all the legions of steamboat supporters and paddle steamer fans to join us on 25 August 2012 for a festive fleet parade!
The parade will include both paddle steamers and motor vessels and you may chose on which kind of ship you would like to participate.
