School Excursions

Dear teachers, international educators and summer camp leaders,

Lake Lucerne is one of the most popular destinations for the field trips of Swiss public schools. The reasons why are obvious: the excellent railway connections to Lucerne, Brunnen or Flüelen, the short distances between the railway stations and our landing piers, the large variety of different attractions in Central Switzerland and the ability to create combined itineraries. You may take a cruise on the lake, then hike up a local mountain, have a picnic on the peak, take the mountain railway or funicular back down again and return to Lucerne or a different town by boat.

A journey on our historic paddle steamers offers a superb educational experience for children of all ages and is a great way to introduce such topics as easy-to-understand technology or mechanical engineering in general. You will find many of your students glued to the engine opening on the main deck, watching the crankshaft of the huffing and puffing engine turn in rhythmic consistency the attached side-wheels, while they make a big splash in the water. It´s easy to follow yet utterly captivating! The spacious foredecks on all steamers offer lots of space for large groups of children and provide them with memorable views of the surrounding landscape.

Lots of museums around the lake, like the Verkehrshaus in Lucerne, are attractive educational destinations that are easy to combine with a cruise on our ships.

Please contact us by phone or email and we will be glad to advise you and help you put together a great itinerary for your school trip.

We welcome classes from all the international schools in Switzerland, students and professors from the different colleges and specialised schools of higher education, and also all the international kids from the many different summer camps in the region.

See you on Lake Lucerne!
