Scenic cruise & Alpine walk along the cliff trail
Make a typically Swiss round-trip by boat, funicular railway and on foot as you enjoy all that Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains have to offer. After a relaxing cruise and quick uphill ride on the steep funicular, you arrive at the world class Bürgenstock Resort. Take in the sweeping views from the spacious observation terrace or pause for some refreshments, before you embark on the beautiful nature walk past dramatic cliffs. At the historic Villa Honegg you may pause for lunch, before returning to the Bürgenstock Resort on foot and then descending back down to the pier with the little red funicular. From there the convenient boat connection will take you back to Lucerne.

Round-trip ticketThis splendid outing will reward you with breathtaking Alpine scenery and grand views from the top of Mount Bürgenstock. The spectacular nature walk will take you past rocky cliffs and along green meadows.
The round-trip starts in Lucerne, where the stylish shuttle ship will take you across Lake Lucerne to the pier at Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock. From there the funicular will convey you uphill to the glamorous Bürgenstock Resort, where such legends as Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren or Sean Connery have stayed. Be sure to visit the resort's spacious observation deck before embarking on the gorgeous nature walk along the cliff trail. Eventually you will pass the iconic Hammetschwand Lift, an engineering marvel dating from 1905. In case you desire, you may ride this wonderfully old-fashioned elevator up and down (tickets sold separately on site), the views from along the edge of the mountain are nothing short of stunning! Later you will reach the venerable Villa Honegg, a traditional mountain lodge and classy boutique hotel, which is the perfect place for rest and refreshments. The villa features an attractive outdoor terrace that is ideal for photography. From the Villa Honegg there's a direct path back to the Bürgenstock Resort. Linger there a little longer before taking the funicular back down to the boat pier. You can cap a fine day out with another fun cruise, as the fast ferry takes you back to Lucerne.

It is possible to make this Alpine excursion from spring to autumn. During the winter, the cliff trail is closed.
The hiking trail passes through natural terrain without pavement. Taking along a buggy would be very inconvenient, we do not recommend it!
During the peak season in summer, the lovely Villa Honegg is a popular place and convenient restaurant location for hikers and walkers. We therefore recommend a table reservation during the high season, especially on weekends or public holidays with good weather.
