What our guests truly love
Our 5 most popular excursions around Lake Lucerne offer wonderful variety and include a fantastic mix of culture and nature as well as land and water. Experience the unique Alpine environment of Central Switzerland on refreshing cruises or combined trips on scenic mountain railways.
This circular journey starts and ends in Lucerne and allows you to use several exciting modes of transport. Reach the spectacular summit of Mount Pilatus by combination of boat and rack railway, then return by aerial cableway and trolleybus to Lucerne. For families we recommend a visit to the engaging playground at Krienseregg! This excursion is possible from May to October.
Enjoy the magnificent scenery of Lake Lucerne on a tranquil mid-day cruise. Savor the flavors of freshly cooked seasonal dishes made with wholesome regional ingredients. Refresh and revive with good food and drink, ready for another active afternoon. Why not make the lunch cruise together with your work colleagues for a welcome break from the office?
Take a nostalgic paddle steamer or modern motor vessel for a refreshing round-trip cruise from Lucerne to Vitznau or Beckenried. This will allow you to see about half of Lake Lucerne and its mountainous environment. There are even shorter sightseeing tours on offer just in the Bay of Lucerne, which typically last one hour.
Enjoy the finest hours of the day and the last rays of sunshine from a spectacular Alpine perch high above Lake Lucerne. In addition to the round-trip boat cruise and funicular journey, a complimentary drink is included at the Spices restaurant on the observation terrace of the splendid Bürgenstock Resort.
Reach new heights and soar above Lake Lucerne on a day-trip to the so-called Queen of the Mountains. Already Mark Twain was inspired by Mount Rigi and wrote about it in his 19th century travel stories. This fun journey is a circular round-trip and starts with a relaxing cruise from Lucerne to Vitznau. Then you can ride Europe’s first rack railway to the summit of Mount Rigi. From the top you will have grandiose views of Central Switzerland and countless other lakes. There are excellent catering facilities available or even BBQ pits for your own picnic. Once you would like to return to Lucerne, we recommend you take the train down the other side of the mountain to Arth-Goldau and from there it’s another pretty train ride past Lake Lucerne and the Bay of Küssnacht back into the city.
Our “insider tip”: Visit Mount Rigi on a Wednesday for the all new Rigi Historic day, when only historic trains and vintage rolling stock are in use all day long.
