Magical views and a world record landmark
Enjoy panoramic views of Lake Lucerne and the Swiss Alps on an exciting excursion. The record-setting Hammetschwand Lift is an impressive engineering landmark dating from 1905. With an altitude of 961 m and a vertical drop of almost 153 m it is the highest exterior elevator in Europe. Enjoy a great day out and combine a tranquil cruise from Lucerne to Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock, before reaching the world class Bürgenstock Resort with the scenic funicular. From the resort a well-marked walking trail will take you to the Hammetschwand Lift and allow you to enjoy glorious views of the surrounding peaks. A ride on the elevator is another highlight, before eventually returning to Lucerne by boat.
Over the winter, the walking trail and the Hammetschwand lift are closed.
