Around Lake Lucerne
On a cloudy or rainy day, Lake Lucerne becomes even more mythical and fairytale-like. Enjoy the cozy comfort and warm shelter of our attractive ships as you explore the Alpine landscape and beautiful shoreline. We recommend taking the boat from Lucerne to Weggis and then walking along the lake on the comfortable pedestrian path to Hertenstein. From there you can return by boat to Lucerne. During the scenic walk from Weggis to Hertenstein, there are several cafes and restaurants along the way. Alternately, you could take the aerial cableway from Weggis to Rigi Kaltbad or visit the Swiss Museum of Transport in Lucerne.

Conveniently reached by rack railway from Vitznau or by aerial cableway from Weggis, Rigi Kaltbad is perched high above Lake Lucerne and provides a fantastic panorama. Even on a rainy day, you will find the setting to be extraordinary. For an exciting itinerary, with multiple attractions in short sequence, we recommend the scenic cruise from Lucerne to Vitznau, then the rack railway ride to Rigi Kaltbad, before relaxing and reviving at the baths. Complete the round trip in the late afternoon for the return by mountain railway and boat to Lucerne.

Isn’t it too cold on the lake in the winter?
Our modern ships are warmly heated and provide lots of attractive indoor seating as well as spacious outdoor decks for brief moments to enjoy some fresh air or take pictures of the stunning landscape. During winter we also provide woolen blankets on the outside decks, allowing you to bundle up. No matter if you prefer to be inside or outside, our ships are truly cozy and the winter atmosphere on the lake is just stunning, rain or shine.

Are these excursions also suitable for children?
Yes, all of these recommended day trips and family activities are ideal for kids. Please just note that at Rigi Kaltbad children are allowed to the family pools, but not to the adult-only wellness areas.
