Terms and Conditions

For all online shop sales regarding themed cruises or Early Bird Tickets

The following terms and conditions govern the legal relationship between the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (in German Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees SGV AG) and its customers. By placing a booking with us, the customer officially agrees to these terms and conditions. Our T&Cs are automatically also part of any signed contract.

By ticking the online check box “I have read and accepted the terms and conditions” every customer formal-ly confirms their knowledge and acceptance of our terms and conditions.


1. Signing a contract, number of travelers, payment
1.1 Your booking by phone, in writing or in person is considered as legally binding. The formal sales contract between you and us will be officially triggered by our unconditional acceptance of your booking. In case you place a later reservation for additional participants, you are responsible for the payment of the products and services that have been ordered on their behalf.
1.2 Our services will be delivered based on our product description in the brochure or online on our website. Special requests for the provision of extraordinary services are only part of the contractual agreement, if we have specifically accepted them in writing and confirmed them without any kind of additional stipulati-on.
1.3 The entire amount must be paid at the time of the booking by credit card.

2. Cancellation or change of reservation
2.1 Themed Cruises and online-tickets (except Early-Bird):
In case of a booking cancellation or change of reservation, the following refund principle applies:

- 4 to 7 days prior to the cruise: 100% refund minus CHF 20.00 for administrative costs per booking

- up to 3 days prior to a the cruise: 50% refund minus CHF 20.00 for administrative costs per booking

- less than 3 days prior to a cruise: no refund!
- No-show: no refund!
- Accident or illness: A full refund will be issued upon the provision of official and original medical documentation.
It is essential that we receive your written cancellation as early as possible. Please be advised that if we receive a cancellation on a weekend or on a public holiday, we will consider it as having arrived on the next ensuing business day.
2.2 Early Bird Tickets:
No refund or change of booking is possible.
Please note that poor weather conditions are not considered as permissible grounds for a refund or a change of booking. In case of proven and documented inability to attend (accident, illness, death), a full refund will be issued, minus CHF 20.00 for administrative costs per booking.


3. Prices
On all themed culinary evening cruises, normally only special tickets are valid. Even travelers with Swiss GA/AG cards or other kinds of rover tickets must purchase a special ticket for these types of cruises. Please take note of our special notices regarding these cruises and follow our general information on ticket validity. All published prices are listed in Swiss Francs (CHF), including the mandatory value added tax. We reserve the right to make changes to our prices and make explicit exceptions for misprints in brochures or typos online.

4. Availability
Seats and tables on our cruises are allocated in the sequence in which we receive bookings. Please note that a reservation for groups of 6 or more with booked catering is only possible in first class on steam ships due to limited space in the restaurant. 

5. Program and price changes
5.1 We reserve the right to make changes to brochure or website descriptions, to change the scope and scale of services provided, as well as alter prices listed prior to your booking. Should this be the case, please ensure that you are aware of such changes before placing your booking and thereby agreeing to a sales contract with us.
5.2 Program changes after your booking and before the start of the event: We reserve the right to make changes to a cruise program or any other kind of event, should forces beyond our control make this necessary or even reflect our customers’ best interests. We will make an effort to offer you equal value services in case of program changes. We will attempt to inform you about such program changes as quickly as possible.
5.3 You rights in case of program changes: In case the change of program or the change of individual services leads to significant general changes, you have the following rights:
a) You may accept the contractual changes
b) You may cancel the contractual agreement and apply for a full refund, but you must do so within 5 days of receiving notification from us. You will then receive your refund.

6. Cancellation of the cruise or event
6.1 Minimum number of participants: For each of our events and themed cruises we require a minimum number of participants in order for the event to take place. We reserve the right to cancel any event or cruise at the very latest 3 days before the planned date, should the minimum number of participants not be reached.
6.2 Forces beyond our control: Should major forces beyond our control, such as natural catastrophes, civic unrest, labor disputes, government measures, health epidemics etc. prevent us from generally or safely staging an event or operating a cruise, we will inform you about the cancellation as quickly as possible.
6.3 In both instances we will attempt to offer you an alternate cruise or event at equal value. Should you refuse participation in an alternate event, you will receive a refund. Aside from that, you have no further rights or claims to any kind of other compensation.

7. Insurance
The Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees SGV AG) refuses any kind of liability for accidents which might occur during a cruise or an event. Each participant is required to have adequate health and accident insurance.

8. Complaints
8.1 Should a cruise or event not meet the advertised specifications, you are required to report these shortcomings to the booking office or the crew aboard the ship.
8.2 Should you wish to file a complaint, you must do so within 30 days after the conclusion of the cruise or event. If you fail to do so within that 30-day period, you will lose all rights to a claim and to any kind of compensation. A complaint must be filed in writing and feature documented proof of shortcomings or lack of services provided.

9. Data protection and confidentiality
The data which you provide as part of your booking will be registered and saved in accordance to Swiss data protection laws. If it is required to pass on some of your details to a sub-contracted service provider, in order to successfully fulfill the contractual services agreed with you, we have the right to do. By booking one of our products, you automatically agree to receive future information from us about upcoming events or special cruise offers. 10. Applicable law and jurisdiction
10.1 The legal relationship between you and the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees SGV AG) is subject to Swiss law only. Only Swiss law can be applied.
10.2 For any kind of claims or lawsuits against the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company (Schifffahrtsgesellschaft des Vierwaldstättersees SGV AG) the court in Luzern (Lucerne) is solely responsible. We have the right to file counter-suits against the customer in Luzern (Lucerne) or at their place of residence.
